A few memories to keep you going!

It’s all over!

August 17, 2008

We had  a great week together. Tears were shed as we said our goodbyes early (6am) this morning,

Annette has emailed that they have arrived home safely after a good journey.

I have sent out emails. Maybritt’s is clearly wrong as it bounced back. I suspect it should not start with www. !

I’ll get started uploading the photos this week. Here are 1 or 2 photos in the meantime.

Activity day

August 13, 2008

The last 2 days Henry has kept us very busy. We went up Bennan Hill today followed by rafting down the river Doon and tonight it is orienteering!

Tomorrow we are off to Edinburgh for some sightseeing, history and a little bit of shopping.

Won’t get photos uploaded till next week but we have taken lots.

Weather has been good today apart from one heavy shower coming down the hill but it was warm rain!

All the students have been getting on well and are great fun to work with.

Will try and post again on Friday!

PS Katy thanks for posting – I know there is someone reading this! Du kannst gut deutsch! Du hast es nicht vergessen und wir haben dich nicht vergessen!

we’re here!

August 12, 2008

Just a quick post to say we are here. all is well and the weather isn’t too bad. We’re off to explore the castle grounds in a mo.

Sorry no photos as no broadband/ADSL here!

2 days to go

August 9, 2008

You’ll be starting to pack your bag now.

You need

clothing suitable for outdoor activities and warm enough for a Scottish summer

swimming costume for under the wet suits for canoeing

smarter clothes for Edinburgh/school visit

towel and toiletries

if room, another towel for wet activities

sleepwear

sensible comfortable footwear

Dolphin House will supply wet weather gear, wetsuits, hillwalking boots, cycling helmets etc

Some people have asked how much money to bring.

All activities and entrances, meals are paid. You only need money for sweets, snacks, extra drinks, any souvenirs you might want to buy.

The weather this week hads beeen very mixed and next week is looking similar

If you have any more questions, post a comment!

Monday pick ups

August 5, 2008

After talking to Mr McClelland and Henry these are the arrangements for Monday.

Since Mr McC doesn’t know any of the Grange pupils but some of the Cumnock pupils do, he and Henry will go first to Cumnock and then on to Grange.

Also my estimation of the time it takes to get through the airport at Glasgow and down to Culzean was a bit optimistic. I think it will be nearer 5pm before we get there so the pick ups will be

Cumnock Academy bus bay 3.30pm

Grange Academy bus bay 4pm -the old one! – I checked today it is still there! The new Grange Academy opens on Monday 18 August right next to the old one

Please post a comment to say you have read and understood the arrangements!!

Henry

August 5, 2008

I have been to see Henry at the Dolphin House this afternoon. As you can see in the photos, the glorious sunshine of yesterday has given way to some cloud.

Here is Henry at the door, the bunkhouse and view from the Maidens, a few miles to the south of the Dolphin House

I’ll post the updated arrangements for pick up on Monday later!

7 days and counting!

August 4, 2008

Wa-hey! This time next week we will be at Dolphin House getting to know each other!

Dave and I will go to the airport to pick up the Saxons with our minibus and my car.

The Dolphin House minibus, hotly pursued by Mr McClelland of Cumnock Academy in his car, will pick up the Grange contingent outside Grange Academy at 3pm and then go on to Cumnock Academy for the rest of you! Should be there around 3.30/3.45

We should all arrive at Dolphin House about the same time, if the plane is on time!

The weather here has been fantastic today. I hope it will last another 2 weeks!

I’m going down to Dolphin House tomorrow to check the arrangements. Will post again tomorrow night. In the meantime – don’t be shy,  post a comment, say hello, ask a question.
